Women
In Computer Science
Funded by IBM and Michigan Technological
University, Women in Computer Science
(WICS) program is an intensive
investigation and discovery of computer
science skills, knowledge, and careers
for young women in grades 9 – 11. During
the program participants have the
opportunity to explore different areas
of computer science, learn about the
wide array of careers in computer
science, investigate the many ways this
career path can impact the quality of
people’s lives, and apply their
knowledge about computer science during
a group project. Additionally,
participants become acquainted with
college life and extra curricular
activities on campus, gain knowledge on
succeeding in computer science
undergraduate programs, meet other young
women with similar backgrounds and
interests, and meet female role model
speakers who work in computer science
fields.
On request, arrangements can be made for
you to talk with university resource
people from disciplines or areas in
which you have special interests or
concerns, as well as Admissions and
Financial Aid staff.
What
is the Cost?
Students
selected to attend are awarded a
scholarship. All program costs are
covered, including tuition,
